Interior Painting
Pre-sale and move-in repaints are the most common Ashland interior jobs, from neutral walls and fresh ceilings to full room color changes.
DetailsAshland packs a lot of housing variety into a small town: older homes off Main Street downtown, postwar capes, newer Colonials and condo complexes. We paint and repair all of them, inside and out.

Downtown Ashland, along Main Street and near the commuter rail station, has the town's older houses: late 1800s homes from the mill era, some divided into apartments, with simple trim and plaster interiors. Around them are streets of 1950s and 1960s capes and small ranches. Farther out, toward Ashland State Park and the Hopkinton line, the town added larger Colonials and several condo and townhouse complexes from the 1990s on. Our painters move between those three types in a normal Ashland week, and each one needs a different plan.
The capes are usually the most straightforward exterior jobs: one and a half stories, dormers, and trim that peels at the dormer cheeks and sills. Newer Colonials need the repaint cycle that follows builder paint. The condos are their own category, since associations often decide colors and schedules for whole buildings. Inside, Ashland owners ask us most for full interior repaints before a sale or after a purchase, plus drywall patching, popcorn ceiling removal in older ranches and kitchen cabinet painting.

Cape dormers take weather on three sides, so their cheek walls and sills peel and crack long before the main walls. We scrape, replace soft sill sections, prime and repaint, and check the flashing line where dormers meet the roof for gaps that let water in behind the paint. Downtown homes near Main Street usually predate 1978, so we presume lead paint and use containment, misting and HEPA cleanup. Inside those older houses, plaster cracks and painted-over wallpaper are the usual repairs.
Association jobs run on the board's schedule and color list. We walk the buildings with the manager, note rot and failing trim building by building, and set a sequence that keeps parking and entries usable. Residents get notice before their unit's elevation is scraped or painted. Inside individual units, owners can hire us directly for walls, ceilings and trim within the association's rules on noise and work hours, often while the exterior work is already underway.
Many Ashland interior jobs line up with a sale or a move. Before listing, owners usually want neutral walls, fresh ceilings and repaired nail pops and dents. After a purchase, buyers often want the textured ceilings in a 1960s ranch removed, the paneling painted and the kitchen cabinets updated before the furniture arrives. We schedule those in the empty-house window, when the work moves fastest and nobody has to live around drop cloths and drying enamel.

DetailsAshland capes peel at the dormers and sills first, while newer Colonials need the repaint that follows their original builder finish.
DetailsAshland's townhouse and condo complexes need building-by-building painting on the association's schedule, color list and resident notice rules.
DetailsOlder Ashland ranches often still have textured ceilings, and removal is easiest in the empty-house window between a sale and a move-in.
DetailsMany Ashland buyers update dated oak kitchen cabinets with a degreased, sanded, primed and enameled finish instead of a full replacement.
DetailsNail pops, dents and seam cracks in Ashland's newer houses get patched, sanded and primed so the repaint looks clean under raking light.

Yes. Pre-sale jobs usually cover walls, ceilings and trim in neutral colors, plus patching nail pops, dents and old anchor holes. We plan the work so rooms are ready for photos in sequence. Most Ashland capes and small Colonials take three to six working days, depending on how much repair the walls need.
We do. We walk the property with the manager or board, note trim and siding repairs, and give a written estimate by building. Work runs in a sequence that keeps parking and entries open, and residents get notice before scraping or painting near their unit. We follow the association's color selections and work-hour rules.
Textured ceilings applied before the 1980s may contain asbestos, so we recommend testing before any scraping in an older Ashland ranch. If the test comes back clear, we mist and scrape the texture, skim the ceiling smooth, prime and paint. Plan on one to two days per room, plus cleanup.
